Welcome

New year, new blog

January 1, 2011

It's a new year and I have just completed my second custom Drupal site. My new blog — located at http://nicksblog.net — is the first site I will hopefully produce this year. I have plans to produce a second site later this year focused on showcasing my amateur photography. Completing both sites will give me valuable experience working with Drupal, especially as it demonstrates my ability to create different kinds of websites with the platform.

On my blog, I hope to write mostly about my personal interests and adventures in D.C. Previously, my blog has been a place for personal writings, but also a political blog and amateur film review site. All of this content has been preserved, but I hope this next incarnation — coupled with Drupal — will be much more dynamic and well-designed.

In other news, I have produced a website for the New America Foundation called Current Account Watch. This site ranks world countries based on the size of their current account trade surpluses, normalized by the mitigating policies they employ to prevent a surplus. I helped to improve the theme used on the site and have worked on other projects that seek to extend this theme. I hope to post even more examples of my web work with New America well into 2011.

In case you're new to my website, some pointers: My custom-built portfolio website includes information about me, a résumé detailing my work experience, a listing of social networks I use and the following multimedia portfolios:

  • Video portfolio: Click here to view video samples of my past work as a videography, editor and producer of multimedia content.
  • Graphics portfolio: Click here to view graphic samples ranging from static graphics appearing in print and online to interactive Flash presentations published online.
  • Writing portfolio: Click here to view writing samples published in print and online.
  • Online portfolio: Click here to view both professional and personal samples of Web sites I have built. It should be noted that this portfolio Web site serves as my most significant online portfolio entry.
